LEGADO 2015, DOURO RED DOC
When every harvest makes a dream come true!
Every year, the release of a new Legado evokes the passage of time in the history of Sogrape, a company that has always been a dreamer. Eight vintages that celebrate the Douro at its finest. That exalt experience and life. Because, while paying homage to the past, this is a wine of the present, which Fernando Guedes envisioned to shape the future. Legado 2015 is yet another dream come true.
Legado 2015, the vintage now being released, is a new chapter in this family’s history, woven from wine. “Legado will always be synonymous with sharing stories, principles, and knowledge,” says Fernando da Cunha Guedes, son of this wine’s creator and current President of Sogrape. “For all that it represents, for the way it was envisioned, this is a deeply emotional wine for us—one that, with each vintage, brings to mind the memory of my father and everything we learned from him.” As the family and the company like to say, it is a wine that reinforces that “we are here to stay, to carry on this and other legacies he left us,” he concludes.
The year 2015 was a hot year with excellent ripening conditions. For Luís Sottomayor, “these conditions allowed us to produce a more robust and full-bodied Legado, with intense color, good structure, and volume,” says the winemaker responsible for Sogrape’s Douro wines. Vinified at the Quinta da Leda winery in the Upper Douro and aged for 30 months in new French oak barrels, “this new vintage lives up to its predecessors, continuing a profile that embodies the authenticity of Quinta do Caêdo’s terroir and the elegance and class derived from ancestral grape varieties,” he comments.
