A new brand, a revamped portfolio, and fresh interpretations of the estate

With documented roots dating back to 1218, Quinta da Romeyra is one of the founding estates of Bucelas and a cornerstone of Arinto’s history. Today, this legacy is reaffirmed through a new expression. Quinta da Romeyra presents its new brand and a revamped portfolio that clearly asserts its role as guardian of the Arinto grape variety and the Bucelas region—the only designation of origin in Portugal dedicated exclusively to white wines.

Launch of the Quinta da Romeyra Range – SOGRAPE. April 28, 2026. 1:00 p.m. Distillerie, Lisbon.

Over the centuries, Quinta da Romeyra has been the setting for pivotal moments in Portuguese history, from the Duke of Wellington’s visit during the French Invasions to the establishment of the Morgado de Santa Catherina in 1703. This heritage is not merely a memory: it is a foundation. It is also the starting point for a contemporary vision that looks to the future with ambition, precision, and creativity.

It is in this balance between heritage and the future that the brand returns to its original spelling and presents a portfolio designed to authentically interpret Bucelas, highlighting the diversity of the estate’s soils and exposures and the vibrancy that defines the region’s Arinto.

Scheduled for release in May, the Quinta da Romeyra 2025 Vintage emerges as a faithful and representative expression of the estate. The wine combines the depth and body of the north-facing vineyards with the vibrant acidity and freshness of the south-facing slopes, resulting in a balanced and versatile profile, intended for various occasions. Also in May, the Vinha dos Fósseis 2021 will be released, produced only in truly exceptional years. A supreme expression of a unique terroir, it originates from soils formed during the Jurassic period, where marine fossils lie buried, revealing a pronounced minerality and a deep, complex profile, aimed at discerning connoisseurs. Reviving the great tradition of Bucelas’s aged white wines, it is released after five years of aging—a deliberately bold move that reveals a wine now at a remarkable point of balance and expression, yet with sufficient structure and freshness to continue evolving in the bottle. An ambitious white that stands, without reservation, alongside the world’s great white wines.

Joining this new phase are wines well-known to consumers, which now form part of a broader and more cohesive portfolio. Prova Régia, a light and contemporary take on Bucelas, maintains its fresh and accessible profile, while the Quinta da Romeyra Brut Sparkling Wine, produced using the classic method, continues to express the elegance and freshness characteristic of the region. The Morgado de Santa Catherina Reserva, one of Bucelas’s most iconic wines, also features a new image, while preserving the complexity and aging potential that have made it a historic benchmark for the appellation.

“The diversity of soils and exposures at Quinta da Romeyra allows us to work with Arinto in great detail, exploring different interpretations within the same estate. This portfolio reflects that approach, with wines that express freshness, structure, and a strong connection to their origin,” emphasizes Luís Cabral de Almeida, winemaker at Quinta da Romeyra.

“Quinta da Romeyra is part of the founding history of Bucelas and Arinto. Honoring this legacy is, for us, a duty, but also a responsibility toward the future. This new phase affirms a clear vision: to preserve the region’s unique identity, highlight a singular grape variety, and continue to position Bucelas as a region of great white wines,” concludes Fernando da Cunha Guedes, President of Sogrape.

It’s a new chapter for Arinto de Bucelas: a brand that honors centuries of history but speaks the language of the present. From the most approachable expression to rare wines from exceptional vintages, this range reflects the estate’s diversity and the depth of its terroir: Prova Régia (€6.49), Quinta da Romeyra Colheita (€11.50), Quinta da Romeyra Morgado de Sta. Catherina (€20.00), Quinta da Romeyra Vinha dos Fósseis (€50.00), and Quinta da Romeyra Espumante Bruto (€11.50).
