There are vintages that time sets aside to reveal only when the moment is right. It is precisely this vision that has led to the release of three Porto Ferreira Colheitas. The 2001, 2006, and 2008 vintages are now hitting the market after decades of aging in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia.
Available since late September, these three Colheitas represent a milestone for Porto Ferreira, the leading Port wine brand in Portugal in 2025*. More than just launching new wines, Porto Ferreira is sharing a part of its history, bringing these one-of-a-kind vintages to the market.
Aged for 18, 20, and 25 years, respectively, the Porto Ferreira Colheita 2008, 2006, and 2001 also stand out as an especially fitting choice for marking significant dates and moments of celebration, offering a wine whose age symbolically accompanies birthdays and special occasions.
A Colheita is the portrait of a single year: a wine that ages in oak until it reaches a level of maturity that reveals greater depth, complexity, and elegance. At Porto Ferreira, each Colheita is also a testament to time, winemaking mastery, and the ability to transform an exceptional vintage into a wine that can never be replicated.
The grapes used to produce these three wines come from the Quintas do Porto and Caêdo estates in the Douro region and are vinified at the Quinta do Seixo winery. They are aged in traditional 635-liter oak casks, characteristic of the Ferreira style, where the wines evolve slowly, gaining depth and elegance over the years.
Three vintages, three expressions
Each of the Colheitas now released reflects the specific conditions of the year in which it was produced.
Porto Ferreira Colheita 2001 is the result of a very rainy winter, followed by a summer favorable for grape ripening and a mostly dry harvest. After more than two decades of aging in oak casks, it offers a profile marked by depth, aromatic complexity, and distinct balsamic notes.
Porto Ferreira Colheita 2006 emerged from a hot summer, which brought the harvest forward and required a particularly careful selection of the grapes. The result is a wine with a superb balance between ripeness and freshness, where the intensity lingers in a long finish.
Porto Ferreira Colheita 2008, on the other hand, benefited from relatively cool conditions, which allowed for a slower ripening of the grapes. This process helped preserve the wine’s natural acidity and aromatic expression, which today is characterized by freshness, elegance, and an enveloping character.
“What makes a Colheita truly unique is that it captures the unrepeatable character of a given year. The 2001, 2006, and 2008 vintages demonstrate how three different harvests can give rise to wines with very distinct personalities, each revealing its own story, preserved over decades of aging. That is the essence of this category and what these Colheitas represent for Porto Ferreira,” says Luís de Sottomayor, Sogrape’s Director of Oenology for Douro and Port Wines.
This launch brings a part of Porto Ferreira’s legacy to the market, offering rare wines produced from a single vintage and aged for decades in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia. A limited edition that highlights the prestige the brand has built over the years and its ability to preserve the identity of each vintage.

The Porto Ferreira Colheita 2001, 2006, and 2008 will be available at select wine shops and retail outlets, with a recommended retail price (indicative and non-binding) of 2001 – €60; 2006 – €45; 2008 – €40. Produced in accordance with the guidelines for Integrated Sustainable Agriculture (OILB/IOBC), the three wines also reflect Sogrape’s commitment to more sustainable viticulture.
