The grape harvest program includes grape picking, traditional grape treading, wine tasting, and a signature lunch at the SEIXO by Vasco Coelho Santos restaurant on September 17 and 24.

Sandeman’s iconic Quinta do Seixo will offer two unique harvest experiences on September 17 and 24. Set against the backdrop of the Douro landscape and steeped in tradition, the program includes hand-picking grapes, treading grapes in a wine press, Port wine tasting, and a signature lunch at the SEIXO restaurant by Vasco Coelho Santos.
With a breathtaking view of the Douro’s terraced vineyards and a modern winery perfectly integrated into the landscape, Quinta do Seixo offers one of the region’s most impressive settings. The program begins in the iconic Chapel Atrium, where participants are welcomed; after receiving tote bags containing everything they need for the adventure ahead, they set off on a walk through the vineyards to the spot where they’ll have the opportunity to begin hand-picking the grapes.
The journey continues with a tour of the winery, where participants can observe the different stages of the winemaking process, culminating in the grape treading inside the wine press—one of the region’s most symbolic rituals, which Sandeman preserves as an essential part of its identity. This immersive experience also includes a guided tasting of three of the brand’s wines — Apitiv Reserve White, Late Bottled Vintage, and 20-Year-Old Tawny — along with this year’s must (grape juice before fermentation is complete), offering a deeper, more sensory experience of the wine-making cycle.
The program concludes with lunch at the SEIXO by Vasco Coelho Santos restaurant, featuring a menu that pays homage to the region’s flavors with a contemporary twist. Highlights include dishes such as pork belly with baked rice and chocolate tart, paired with wines from Casa Ferreirinha and Sandeman, celebrating the Douro’s culinary richness in an atmosphere of excellence.
Lasting approximately six hours, the experience is available for 250 euros per person, for groups of 2 to 25 people, by prior reservation at www.winetourism.sogrape.com.
Located in Valença do Douro, Quinta do Seixo is a symbol of Douro wine tourism, combining tradition, innovation, and respect for the region. The Biodiversity Trail, a self-guided path through vineyards, schist walls, and native vegetation, is part of the estate’s offerings and reinforces Sogrape’s commitment to preserving natural heritage.
Combining landscape, wine, tradition, and cuisine, the grape harvest program at Quinta do Seixo promises an unforgettable experience that celebrates the best of the Douro in every detail.
