Casa Ferreirinha has once again partnered with the “Wine Oscars” by sponsoring the innovation category of the 2023 Golden Vines Awards. Created with the goal of keeping Gérard Basset’s legacy alive, these awards are organized by Liquid Icons and the foundation established in his honor.
From October 13 to 15, the third edition of the 2023 Golden Vines Awards took place—one of the most prestigious award ceremonies in the wine industry—which this year was held in Paris. Casa Ferreirinha once again participated in this event, which honors the best in the wine world, by sponsoring the innovation category—one of the nine awards presented—which this year recognized the Department of Viticulture and Enology at the University of California, Davis.
The 2023 Golden Vines Awards featured a lavish program attended by approximately 300 guests. Of particular note was the awards gala dinner, which took place at the Opéra Garnier and was prepared by chefs Alain Ducasse and Akrame Benallal.
In addition to honoring the stars of the fine wine world and highlighting the industry’s top producers, these awards aim to raise funds for the Gérard Basset Foundation and finance training programs in the wine, spirits, and hospitality sectors. To this end, various initiatives are held over the course of the three days, such as the Golden Vines Fine Wine, Rare Spirit & Experience auction, which took place online from October 1 to 15, and in which Casa Ferreirinha participated with a lot consisting of three magnum bottles of Barca-Velha 2011 and an experience in Porto and the Douro.
The Gérard Basset Foundation was established in honor of the late Master of Wine, Master Sommelier, and 2010 World’s Best Sommelier, with the goal of investing in education and training within the wine industry. The Foundation is responsible for funding educational, apprenticeship, and career scholarships for young professionals in the wine, spirits, and hospitality sectors, promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion.
The “Wine Oscars” return in 2024, with the event taking place in October in Madrid.
