The Sandeman Stage will travel upriver from Gaia to Quinta do Seixo, bringing the experience of music and cinema to the unique landscapes of the Douro. Starting in September, Sandeman’s magnificent estate will host late afternoons featuring live music, outdoor movies, and, of course, cocktails made with Port wine.
The first events are scheduled for September 4 and 11, and the program includes a guided tour of Quinta do Seixo, followed by a concert featuring the Carl Minnemann Jazz Trio, pleasantly accompanied by cocktails made with Sandeman Port. Dinner takes place in the Jardim das Oliveiras, and the evening concludes with an outdoor movie screening (lineup to be announced), surrounded by centuries-old vineyards and moonlight, with the Douro always serving as the backdrop.
In July, the Sandeman Stage kicked off the 2021 season at its usual venue, the terrace of The George Gastro & Cocktail Bar, across from the Sandeman Cellars, located within The House of Sandeman Hostel & Suites in Vila Nova de Gaia. These free concerts will continue throughout September on the 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th, starting at 6:30 p.m. The lineup includes artists such as Clube do Choro, DJ Nuno Lopes, Pandeiro in Jazz, and Patrícia Costa Fado.
The initiative, which now extends to the Douro region, will take place at a prime location on the south bank of the river, in Cima-Corgo, between the city of Régua and the village of Pinhão. Quinta do Seixo offers a breathtaking view of the valley, which will serve as the backdrop for a Sandeman Stage—marking yet another Sandeman initiative to provide unique and memorable experiences with Port wine in different settings, including the arts.
The brand’s connection to the art world, in fact, dates back to its very origins, when several artists were invited to contribute to its visual identity, such as the renowned Jean d’Ylen and the Scottish artist George Massiot-Brown, creator of the iconic figure “The Don” in 1928. Today, the brand’s extraordinary artistic heritage can be explored in the newly created online gallery, The Sandeman Gallery, which embodies a commitment that cuts across the brand and brings it closer to the artistic world, continuing its story through the arts.
