Announcement
The release of a new Reserva Especial is confirmed for June: the 2014 vintage is the 18th edition of this eagerly awaited wine, which reaffirms Casa Ferreirinha’s excellence in crafting great Douro wines.
The passion and respect for what nature provides with each harvest are the secret behind the anticipation. The anticipation for rare, exclusive, and special wines that are born in the vineyard and evolve in the bottle. Six years after the last release, Reserva Especial 2014 renews Casa Ferreirinha’s legacy of excellence and quality, in a wine that has been making history for six decades.
In the words of Luís Sottomayor, “2014 was a year of balanced ripening, with some rain in the winter and a heat wave in June, yet harmonious overall. These characteristics are reflected in the wine, which also possesses remarkable complexity.” For the winemaker behind this latest vintage, “The excellent aging potential proven over the past nine years has made this wine worthy of the Reserva Especial designation.”
Created in 1960, Reserva Especial represents the very best of the Douro, crafted by the demanding and skilled hands of Casa Ferreirinha, a house of great wines, tradition, and innovation. Reserva Especial 2014 will be launched in various markets in June of this year.
