The Water Management Award recognized Sogrape for its contribution to efficient water management in the wine industry
Sogrape, a leading family-owned wine company in Portugal with a strong international presence, was honored in the Water Management category at the 15th edition of The Drinks Business Green Awards. This award recognizes the company’s commitment to innovative water management practices, reaffirming its dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
The ceremony for the 15th edition of The Drinks Business Green Awards took place in London this Tuesday and once again celebrated companies in the beverage sector that lead the way in innovative and environmentally conscious practices. Committed to building a more inclusive and prosperous future, Sogrape stood out among the winners, receiving recognition in the Water Management category, which honors its efforts to preserve one of the sector’s vital natural resources and to develop more responsible initiatives.
One of the most ambitious projects that led to this recognition was the modernization of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) at Quinta do Sairrão, in the Douro region. This facility was upgraded to handle larger volumes of effluent, especially during the harvest season, incorporating pioneering technologies that optimize treatment and significantly reduce the environmental impact.
