Lisbon welcomes the world’s best sommeliers, and Sogrape showcases the diversity, quality, and authenticity of Portuguese wines to one of the industry’s most influential audiences.
From October 11 to 17, Lisbon will host the most prestigious international sommelier competition, bringing together the world’s top professionals, experts, journalists, and opinion leaders who play a decisive role in recommending and promoting wines in major international markets.
In this context, Sogrape is participating for the first time in the ASI Contest Best Sommelier of the World as a Gold Event Partner, taking advantage of this premier platform to reinforce its growth strategy in the fine wines segment and present to the world’s leading wine ambassadors and influencers a selection that represents the richness, diversity, and quality of Portuguese wines.
This participation represents a unique opportunity to boost the international profile of Portuguese wines and strengthen ties with professionals who play a decisive role in recommending and promoting them in premium markets around the world.
"Portugal today produces extraordinary wines that are recognized and appreciated in the world’s leading markets. Being among the best international sommeliers is an opportunity to continue sharing what sets us apart as a wine-producing country and to strengthen ties with professionals who help establish the place of Portuguese wines in the most prestigious restaurants, wine cellars, and wine lists,” notes Fernando da Cunha Guedes, President of Sogrape.
For this occasion, Sogrape has selected a representative collection of wines from its main wine-producing regions in Portugal, spanning Vinho Verde, the Douro, Dão, Bucelas, and the Alentejo. The selection includes some of the most recognized brands in the company’s portfolio, including Casa Ferreirinha, Sandeman, Porto Ferreira, Quinta de Azevedo, Quinta dos Carvalhais, Quinta da Romeyra, Herdade do Peso, Trinca Bolotas, Série Ímpar, and Mateus, reflecting the diversity of terroirs, grape varieties, and styles that characterize Portugal as a wine-producing country.
Throughout the week, Sogrape will host a series of experiences for international participants, notably at the event’s Bar des Sommeliers, where it will host “The Insider Pour,” an exclusive experience offering access to rare wines and special editions. The Sogrape Wine Academy will hold a masterclass dedicated to Portugal’s unique position on the global wine scene, highlighting the diversity that makes it truly distinctive.
Participation in the ASI Contest Best Sommelier of the World reinforces Sogrape’s commitment to promoting Portuguese wines internationally among the category’s leading influencers and opinion leaders, who help shape trends, recommendations, and choices in the markets most relevant to the sector.
